    Shortly after Sal's mother left in April, Sal's father started chipping away at the plaster wall in the living room as a way to channel his sadness and worries. Her parents had been slowly restoring the house and when Sal's father received the phone call that his wife wasn't returning, he took to the wall with a chisel and hammer.
