    "The Book Was Better"

    Collaborative Writing

    Objective:

    Students will watch and respond to a film adaptation of the novel.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.7

    Structure:

    As perhaps the quintessential "Victorian" novel, Vanity Fair has been adapted to the large and small screen many times: this includes three radio plays, four silent films, three sound films, and about a half-dozen television adaptations.

    For this activity, students will split into groups. Each group will pick a different adaptation of Vanity to watch. As they do so, they should take notes on the following questions:
