Students will research and write about British colonialism.

Structure:

Although Vanity Fair is presented with an easy jocularity, it is important that students understand that the novel's action takes place during the height of British colonialism. In the 19th century, we especially see an increased British presence in India. With Jos having decided to move to India, students will research the impacts of British imperialism on the countries they occupied.

Either as individuals or groups, students will research the British occupation of India in the 1800s....
