How sardonic is the character Hengist?
Hengist is introduced as the protagonist in the story 'The Princess and the Poacher.' Ironically, Hengist's desires do not match his looks. The author uses the character Princess Mammalia to exemplify how power can corrupt an individual's mind. Mammalia's power comes from her exceptional exquisiteness, which makes all men of the kingdom worship her. The only man in the entire kingdom who is not after Mammalia is the king, her father. Upon realizing that she is very authoritative and all men worship her, Mammalia's mind is corrupted, and she wants to be the overall ruler of the kingdom. Mammalia plots to assassinate her father to achieve her besmirched goals, but he discovers her plans in advance. To tame her daughter, he takes away her beauty, and she becomes powerless.
