    At the beginning of the book, Winnie doesn't know anything about the outside world. She is stuck in her yard or her home, watched by her parents and grandmother. It is easy for her to daydream about adventure. However, her experiences with the Tucks push her out of her comfort zone. For a girl who has never left home, being kidnapped by an immortal family is quite the adventure. Even though she likes the Tucks, she misses her home.
