To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is a science fiction book written by American author Christopher Paolini and was first published on 15 September 2020 by Macmillan Publishers.
The book follows Kira Navárez, a xenobiologist, in the yar 2257 as she comes across a new weapon, known only as the Soft Blade. This causes her to be hunted by the Wranaui, who long to keep the ancient weapon for their own means. At the same time, an evil entity known as The Maw, is also taking over the world. Kira and The Soft Blade must work together to fight against the evil forces attempting to take over the world.
This book has been extremely well received, with Kirkus Reviews stating that it was "A fun, fast-paced epic that science fiction fans will gobble up." It also won the 2020 Goodreads Choice Award for Science Fiction. The book has also been optioned for film, with Paolini and his sister, Angela, heading it, in collaboration with Snoot Entertainment.
