The government that executed this eviction operation cited safety concerns as the main reason for vacating the island. However, the government was becoming scared of the empowerment of the locals through education and funding from well-wishers. As a result, the government evicted the people from the island in the early 20th century and converted it into a high-end vacation destination to help the government generate more revenue. The government's decision to evict people unlawfully from their ancestral homes in Malaga Island was a crime because it had selfish interests.
