To explore the idea of "talk-story" and research folklore from a variety of cultures.

Structure:
In “White Tigers,” the narrator talks-story the legend of Fa Mu Lan in the first person. Start by asking the class why this part of Kingston’s memoir was so effective. Why does she talk-story in the first-person? What does this tactic signify? Discuss this for 5 minutes or so.
