The Tropical Breeze Hotel is a Caribbean play. The story throws light on the life of Emma Boisgris. Emma is the protagonist of the story. She works as a exotic dancer in London. She has no work, and slowly she is getting older.
She lives with Max in her apartment. One day a man named Ishmael comes to Emma's apartment, and she allows him to stay with her. They are talking about their families and their problems. Ishmael acts strange when Emma talks to him. He dominates her. He does not want to show his identity to Emma.
Both characters Emma and Ishmael, are finding their cultural identities. Emma struggles with her past memories, and in the present, she fights with Postcolonial society's perception of herself. Ishmael wants a home and identity.
