Daniel Jae Ho
Daniel Jae Ho is one of the two main characters in The Sun Is Also a Star. He is seventeen/years/old with Asian features because of his Korean family. He has long, dark hair and is very passionate. He believes in true love, creativity and life. He also believes in God and his love. His parents are pressuring him to go to Yale, as his big brother couldn’t. Daniel’s character develops heavily in the book, as he learns to be responsible and hold his own life in his hands, instead of letting his parents’ rule.
Natasha “Tasha” Kingsley
Natasha “Tasha” Kingsley is the other main character in the book. Approximately half of the book is written from her point of view. She lives together with her family; her parents and her big brother. When her father was drunk, he told the police that he was an illegal immigrant, which led to the family having to be deported back to Jamaica, which is where they come from. Natasha understands and believes in logic, and all she wants is to stay in the country she has grown up in.
Jeremy Fitzgerald
Jeremy Fitzgerald is an immigration attorney. His story is a bi-story in the book, as it is told in between the main events. He is in love with his paralegal, though he already has a wife and children of his own. Fitzgerald knows of both Daniel and Natasha, Daniel because he is interviewing him for Yale, and Natasha because she wants him to help her family stay in the U.S.
