The Structure of Scientific Revolutions Metaphors and Similes

Constellation

Thomas Kuhn elucidates, “If Science is the constellation of facts, theories and methods collected in current texts, then scientist are the men who, successfully or not, have striven to contribute one or another element to that particular constellation.” The allegorical constellation is meant to indicate that Science houses a myriad of subject concerns that cannot be singularized; science is categorically far-reaching.

Stockpile

Thomas Kuhn expounds, “Scientific development becomes the piecemeal process by which these items have been added singly and in combination, to the ever growing stockpile that constitutes scientific technique and knowledge.” The stockpile is emblematic of the incessantly accrued scientific chronicles which is amalgamated in the texts that expounds the historiography of science. History inflates with each succeeding novelty.
