Rand al’Thor
Rand is the book's protagonist, and he is the most authoritative person in Aiel after wielding the powerful Callandor sword. He faces competition from other self-proclaimed leaders like Couladin, but they cannot prove their power. The land is also known as the Dragon Reborn, showing the most powerful man in existence.
Moraine
Morain is the only character who gains little insight into the future prospects.
Mat Cauthon
Mat is a core supporting character. Despite working closely with Rand, he is courting Nine Moon’s daughters.
Egwene Al’Vere
Egwene is a non-member in the Black Ajah family. However, she works closely with Rand.
Aiel Aviendha
Aviendha is the individual tasked with teaching Rand the traditions and the culture of Aiel to ensure that he is conversant with the expectations of the people he rules.
Eelfinn
Eefinn is a strategic character who tricks Mat into giving him gifts whose consequences are unknown. For instance, he asks for Ashandarei, which gives him the power to speak his ancestors' language.
Perrin Aybara
Perrin is the husband of Faile. Perrin looks for new friends to fight against Trollocs, who killed his family. Perrin marries Faile as a strategy of acquiring more soldiers from Queene Morgase. Similarly, Perrin surrenders to the Light’s children on the condition they help him deal with the Trollocs.
Faile Bashere
Faile is the wife of Perrin, and she helps him acquire more soldiers to fight against Trollocs.
Trollocs
Trollocs is responsible for killing Perrin and Bashere’s family members.
