    Students will research various aspects of Sydney's history, noting how it informs their understanding of The Secret River.

    Structure:

    When William and Sal arrive in Sydney, it is the biggest English settlement in New South Wales, but it is still little more than a camp. Over time, Sydney developed from a small camp of convicts to a sprawling metropolitan city. In this activity, students will research Sydney history as it relates to the events of The Secret River.
