Introduction to The Quiet American

First published in England in 1955, The Quiet American stood as another well-received installment in Graham Greene's storied literary career. Greene was inspired by his own experiences as a war correspondent living in Vietnam. The novel became increasingly controversial as the United States became embroiled in the Vietnam war.
