The Poems of Isobel Dixon Summary

The Poems of Isobel Dixon Summary

Plenty

The poem Plenty is full of sorrow and pain. In this poem, there are a single mother and her five children. It is a difficult situation for a woman to take care of her children alone. The mother of kids has no money to feed her children. They do not have sufficient food, clothes, water to take a bath.

The mother does struggle to save some money for buying grocery items. She does efforts to purchase bread, toilet paper, petrol, porridge, and some other things. The family hardly get the essential items and food to eat.

Because of their poor condition, the mother hardly provides the needs of her children, and the children misunderstand their mother. They feel their mother is a selfish woman. Kids sometimes steal some biscuits and water and, they thought that this is luxury.

Weather Eye

Weather Eye is not merely a beautiful lyrical poem, but it has sweet memories, which describes beautifully in this poem. Dixon seems to be very imaginative and sensitive throughout her poem. She describes her family and childhood memories. She remembers her siblings and the love what she received in her loved family.
