Objective:

Students will discuss and compare 13th with The New Jim Crow.

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.9-10.7

Structure:

Before the activity, have students watch the documentary 13th (which is available on Netflix). Warn them ahead of time that the movie is intense and includes some graphic visuals. If you have time to show the documentary in class, feel free to do that.
