In Chapter 28, Thomas wonders if the "people behind the Maze [could] control them somehow" when he reflects on Alby's choking incident. It is apparent that the Creators do employ many methods to control the Gladers. What are they? What elements are outside of their control?
First, the Creators obviously directly controlled the memories of the Gladers, since each arrival had had his memory erased. They also control many aspects of the Gladers' survival.
