The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum (1975 Film) Cast List

Angela Winkler

This was only Winkler's second role in a film; she would go on to become one of Germany's most admired actresses, and although she worked predominantly in the German movie industry, she came to international attention in 1979 when she was cast in The Tin Drum, which earned an Academy Award in the Best Motion Picture category.

In the 1990s, Winkler diversified her career and began to alternate stage and screen projects. In 2006 she was the recipient of a Henrik Ibsen Centennial Commemoration Award, given by the Norwegian government to commemorate the hundred year anniversary of the death of the playwright.

Mario Adorf

Like his co-star, Winkler, Adorf became internationally known for his work on Oscar-winning movie The Tin Drum in 1979, but his acting career began almost twenty five years earlier. He has made over two hundred films and is widely considered one of Europe's finest character actors. He was the recipient of an honorary Bavarian Film Award in 2000 in recognition of his contribution to the German film industry.

Dieter Laser

Best known to international audiences for his role in the sci-fi television series Lexx, Laser is a German actor who studied the Stanislavski method, and consequently often offended his cast mates for assuming the identity of the character he was playing during rehearsal and long after filming had wrapped up for the day.

He achieved international acclaim for his role in the cult movie The Human Centipede for which he was nominated in the Best Villain category at the L.A. Scream Awards.

Jurgen Prochnow

Prochnow, although an esteemed German language actor, has also made a very successful career out of playing the sinister German bad guy in a number of action movies and franchises; he played Kazakh dictator General Ivan Radek in Air Force One opposite Harrison Ford, and Maxwell Dent in Beverly Hills Cop II. He was also considered for the leading role in The Terminator, ultimately losing out to Arnold Schwarzenegger, whom he went on to portray in a film about the actor and bodybuilder's political career in California.

Heinz Bennent

Cesar award nominee Bennent worked almost exclusively in the German film industry during a long career that saw him appear in over fifty movies, including the controversial Son of Hitler in 1979. He also went on to appear in the popular German television detective series Maigret.
