Sherman Alexie has written twenty-five books, including Blasphemy, War Dances, and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian. He is a poet, short story writer, novelist, and performer. In 1991, he quickly rose to literary stardom with the publication of a collection of poems, The Business of Fancydancing. James Kincaid, an English professor and scholar, wrote a positive review of Alexie’s first collection of poems. The review was published in The New York Times and was read widely. The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven was published two years later, in 1993.
