The Life and Adventures of Joaquin Murieta Imagery

Mount Shasta

There is an entire poem within the story dedicated to Mount Shasta of Sacramento Valley. It is described as a metaphorical representation of masculinity and fertility. It is described as imperial, mighty, unpolluted by the storms of heaven; it is rising into heaven, unstained by human foot and many other descriptions which speak of its grandeur and pride.

Calaveras County

In his final attempt to go after his ultimate vengeance before retiring, Murieta decides for Calaveras County. It is the richest county in California and it's described as having mountains veined with gold, streaming with yellow grains, with golden trees with fruitful branches spreading over the hills. It is described as a fertile place with voluptuous flowers and plentiful harvests.
