Objective:

Students will be able to collect supporting evidence for a sustained metaphor.

Structure:

Ask students to begin a note-taking journal. In it, they will collect their observations cataloging the parallel between people and animals in The Jungle. They should look for text in which people seem to be treated as if they were animals. This may be a concrete connection, or a connection that is more subtle.
