Objective:
Students will compare one work of the author to another to find similarities and differences.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.5 Analyze how an author's choices concerning how to structure a text, order events within it (e.g., parallel plots), and manipulate time (e.g., pacing, flashbacks) create such effects as mystery, tension, or surprise.
Structure:
In groups or individually, have students pick and read a chapter excerpt from H.G. Wells' The Time Machine: http://www.bartleby.com/1000/11.html.
