The History Boys contains casual discussions about, and references to, inappropriate and abusive relationships between teachers and students. Most of the characters in the play seem relatively untroubled and unfazed by these topics -- in fact, these types of relationships are discussed as if they are a fairly common occurrence at the time. Having said that, students in today's classes may feel differently about these topics.
