Narrator's Parents
The narrator's parents are from Korea and live in the United States, but they raised her daughter as an American. They didn't bother to teach her their mother tongue, because of their lapse, the narrator even pronounces her name incorrectly. The narrator's parents want their child to live like an American but also expect her to preserve their Korean lineage through marrying a Korean man.
