The Gathering Storm Irony

The Gathering Storm Irony

The paradox of Rand’s Rebirth

Rand is a satirical character determined to achieve his goals before he dies. Ironically, when Rand fails to attain his objectives, he is reborn to continue the struggle. Perhaps, the primary goal of Rand is to destroy the access key which the enemies use to destroy the earth. Consequently, the rebirth of rand in the entire context is a sarcastic character who never gives up even in death.

The irony of Verin

Verin is a member of the Black Ajah, together with Sisters whose primary purpose is unknown to Egwene and others. Ironically, instead of keeping the secrets of the Black Ajah, Verin spills the beans when she reveals to Egwene that she is a member of Black Ajah. Therefore, it is ironic that Verin betrays her fellow members when she further accepts to work for Egwene as a lifetime researcher about the Black Ajah.

The sardonic nature of Egwene

Egwene is a neophyte at the White Tower, and she is expected to abide by the laid rules amongst them, working closely with the present Amyrlin. Ironically, Egwene is working closely with Sedai to arrange to remove Elaida. At last, the White Tower is destroyed, and Sedai appoints Egwene as the new Amyrlin.

The access key

The question that lingers in reader's mind is how the access key can be used in destroying the world. The access key is supposed to open opportunities for all the characters, but it is used by the dark forces instead of destroying the world. At last, Rand manages to destroy the access key, saving the world from destruction.
