Irony of the Ballard curse
Nicky Ballard, one of Callie's students, is unfortunately predestined for an old family curse that a witch cast on her family a long time ago. After she discovers this Callie is set on finding out who that witch was and finding the one from that family to lift the curse. Ironically, it turns out that Callie's great-grandfather was the one who cursed the Ballards and Callie was able to rid the poor girl off her misery all along. Even the spell to do it is quite simple: all it took was a sincere apology from Callie on behalf of her family towards the Ballard family.
Finding out the true meaning a little too late
Callie falls under the influence of her well-meaning friends from Fairwick and the evidence against Liam and decides to use the iron cuffs Brock gave her to banish Liam to the Borderlands. In final agonizing moments of Liam disappearing Callie realizes that she can't be without him and wants to thread over to the darkness together with him. Liam pushes her away and disappears thus saving her in a heroic act of his love. Of course, we discover later that Liam didn't do the things he was accused off and his only interest was getting close to and making Callie love him. A little too late, Callie discovers the true meaning of her demon lover, that she drew him close to her because of his darkness and not the other way around and that the lies he made out of love aren't the worst thing possible.
"I'm calling him to tell him to go away and leave me alone"
Isn't it a bit of ironic what you're trying to do there Callie? Our heroine, after discovering the scary truth about the nightly visitations from her demon lover, begins to panic and wants him to go away. The truth, though, is that after the night she addressed him he never reappeared again until this night when she decides to summon him to tell him to go, so it's clear that the truth of what Callie actually wants is different from what she's trying to make herself believe.
