The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World Imagery

The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World Imagery

Choking

Black Man With Watermelon is choking and we hear that it is because he has been hung by a tree and had all the air stricken from his body. The imagery of the Black Man being strung up to a tree creates the haunting imagery of the atrocities perpetrated upon innocent Black Men throughout America.

Remember Me

Black Man With Watermelon and Black Woman With Fried Drumstick plead to one another to, "Re-member me." at the end of the play. The imagery creates the reality of how these two lovers, husband and wife were ripped apart from each other by the Black Man being murdered. We feel their need to be remembered for more than the horror that happened to them in their lives.

Tee V

Voice On Thuh Tee V comes through in the play sparsely, but when we hear this voice it comes out as the imagery of the character would allude to. The voice is contained, and when they speak of the Black Man they say nothing about how he died, nor what he suffered. Instead it is mere facts about his life that are easy to look over. The imagery of a 'voice' speaking, but saying nothing shows us how the media slants each story to suit the beliefs of the network.

ALL

Every character at one point in the play declare together, "You should write that down and you should hide it under uh rock." The imagery of the entire group of characters saying this makes a declaration that what is being written down is the history of the Black Man. That the truth must be recorded so that future generations will know it.
