Kenneth's Failure to get his teeth fixed.
Stephanos remarks that his friend Kenneth is always ashamed of his brown teeth and often hides them. It is a situational irony that once Stephanos gets a good job that can enable him to cover the cost of fixing his teeth he does not do so. He does not visit the dentist to get his teeth fixed yet he has the financial ability to do so.
Stephanos' feelings towards America
Stepahons says that he hates or loves America depending on how much money he makes in a day from his shop. This is ironical because his love or hate towards the country shouldn't stem from his earnings which are attributed to his hard work and fate.
Stephanos' Effort
It is ironical that since Stephanos' shop is not doing well he does not put any effort into improving his earnings. He keeps going into debt and does not try to improve the state of his business. He says that sometimes he opens the shop in the later hours of the morning after the morning rush hour has ended.
The Grocery Store's Discounting habit
The grocery store of Logan Circle was notorious for discounting the date of meat after the expiry date had reached. This is a situational irony because the readers expect the Grocery store to get rid of the bad meat that will soon be consumed by customers hence risking their health for profit.
The Ethiopian Emperor's tuor
It is ironical that in Ethiopia as Stephanos narrates, when the Emperor would like to tour the country, his troops would go ahead of him to prepare his visit. They would forcefully remove the beggars and crippled from the streets. This is ironical because they should allow him to see the state of poor citizens since he is a policy maker.
