Describe the objects shown on page one. What do these objects represent? What do they tell us about the man's life and what's important to him?
All of the objects on the first page are signifiers of home -- a drawing, a pot, a cup. These items show readers what the man finds most comfortable and what he's in danger of losing if he moves on. They also illustrate his security in a place that he knows and understands.
