Chapter 16 - Life Cycle Nutrition: Infancy, Childhood, and Adolescence - Critical Thinking Questions - Page 552: A

Answer

Childhood obesity can cause the child to remain obese even as he goes into adulthood. This leads to lack of exercise and a bad diet. This prevents the child from developing his muscles and bones properly, making him weak throughout his life. He has a greater chance to develop diseases in his elder years which puts more strain on a country's health care system, and might make them unable to keep up with all the people in need of treatments.
