1) Draw the carbon backbone of the structure (Tip: number the carbon atom in the backbone from left to right to make the 2nd step easier).
2) Add the functional groups, found in parentheses, to the carbon backbone. The functional group is attached to the carbon atom on the left side of the parenthesis except when it is at the leftmost part of the condensed structure. For example, in $(CH_{3})_{2}CHCH_{2}CH(Br)CH_{3}$, $(CH_{3})_{2}$ should be attached to the first carbon atom in the backbone (to the right of the parenthesis) and $(Br)$ should be attached to the third carbon atom in the backbone (to the left of the parenthesis).
