Chapter 1 - Problems - Page 56: 1.61

Answer

The answers can be found below (a to d from top to bottom).

Work Step by Step

A skeletal structure is a graphical representation of a molecule that shows its bonds and atom arrangement. In a skeletal structure, each endpoint represents a carbon atom. Hydrogen atoms bonded to carbon are not shown. The first step in making a skeletal structure is drawing all the carbon atoms using single bonds. Afterwards, draw in all the remaining atoms that are not carbon. Lastly, make sure that all carbon atoms have four bonds each. You can do this by making single bonds into double or triple bonds. Do not to forget to count the hydrogen bonds each carbon atom contains before adding changing the single bonds.
