Answer

The current graphical representation shows that birds have an important role in controlling the population of borers. These borers lead to the destruction and loss in the crop production of berries.

Work Step by Step

The graph (for graph refer to textbook) clearly indicate that the population of berries with borers is more when nets have been installed to prevent predation of birds on borers. The increase in the percentage of berries with borers can be seen in both control and treatment plots. Probability is the occurrence of event in the data; it is provided that P < 0.05 and P < 0.01. P < 0.05 means that there is less than a 1 in 20 chance of being wrong. A statistically significant result is observed in this study when P-value is less than 0.05, which means data is statistically significant, thus generating high level of confidence in graph’s results. This indicates that the observed results are not a mere consequence of error or chance. The results are validated and cannot be rejected based on chance alone. This shows that birds predate on borers, which could help in reducing the number of berries affected by borers.
