Answer
Biotechnology uses a range of techniques which all revolve around manipulating DNA. Its sequence allows it to be copied using techniques like PCR and it to be cloned using vectors, such as plasmids, of known sequence. Many of these steps rely on restriction enzymes which specifically cut DNA based on its shape/sequence. The fact that DNA contains information which can be read and understood means, further, that it can be specifically used to probe cells to see where and how the information in DNA is used.
Work Step by Step
Skim the chapter, making a list of how DNA is used in biotechnology. You might want to use headings in your list such as "sequence used" or "cloning techniques." Then, pull back and see that 1) DNA is in all of these techniques 2) how different aspects of DNA are involved, such as its sequence.
