Chapter 8 - Special Senses - Review Questions - Page 331: 12

Answer

Crying means shedding tears in response to strong emotional feelings. Tears in the eye are produced by lacrimal glands, and they keep the surface of the eye moist and clean. These tears are then drained through lacrimal punctum, and then dumped into the nasal cavity. When a person cries, more tears are produced. And some of them fall out of eye and run down the cheek, and many of them are drained into the nasal pathway, causing a running nose.
