Chapter 10 - Blood - Review Questions - Page 381: 32

Answer

The process of hemostasis is initiated by the trauma to the endothelium of the blood vessels. If the artery is sliced through cleanly, less damage will occur to the endothelium than if the artery were crushed and torn. So the process of hemostasis will be delayed due to which the chances of excessive blood loss will be severely increased.
