Chapter 8 - Section 8.2 - Perimeter and Area of Polygons - Exercises - Page 361: 39a

Answer

52 units

Work Step by Step

Given ZT = 5 and TY = 12 As we can see tha triangle VZT is rigth angle triangle So by using Pythagoras theorem $VT^{2}$ =$VZ^{2}$ + $ZT^{2}$ $VT^{2}$ = $12^{2}$ + $5^{2}$ (Since VZ = TY) $VT^{2}$ = 144 + 25 = 169 VT = $\sqrt 169$ = 13 Similarly VR = RS = ST = 13 units as RSTV is a square So perimeter of RSTV = RS+ST+TV+VR = 13+13+13+13 = 52 units
