“Hasta la vista, baby!

The Terminator

Interactions between John and the Terminator are developing in a strange way, taking into account that the Terminator is a machine, incapable of human emotions and feelings. Nevertheless John tries to teach the Terminator to act like a human. The first thing John points to is the Terminator’s manner of speaking. John tries to make the Terminator’s language smoother, and with that reason he offers few phrases, among which is “Hasta la vista, baby!”. The Terminator seems to understand the meaning of the phrase, and when he manages to make the other Terminator evaporate, he says these words. The “Hasta la vista, baby!has become one of the most popular action movie phrases ever.

You can’t just go around killing people!” – “Why?”

John Connor and the Terminator

Though the Terminator came to save John Connor, it stays a machine for killing. Human feelings are unknown for the Terminator, so John Connor pays a lot of attention to teaching the Terminator what it means to be a human.

Trust me”

The Terminator

The Terminator’s goal is to protect John Connor and save him for future resistance against the machines. This is the only reason he was sent to the past. But there occurs a chance of destroying all the machines before they became powerful, and the Terminator with John, Sarah and Bennet Dyson want to accomplish this mission. They get into the laboratory, where Bennet Dyson works, and where all the information and prototypes of robots are kept. The police arrives there as well, and the Terminator comes out to fight with them. When he leaves he says to John “Trust me”. The Terminator promised John that he would not kill people, and in the combat with the police, none were killed. Damaged, but not killed. John’s lessons of what it means to be a human are not in vain.

“Come with me if you want to live”

The Terminator to Sarah Connor

The scene when Sarah sees the Terminator for the first time shows all the fear she experiences. In the past, the Terminator came to kill her, so the fact that she is afraid of him is not surprising. However, when he comes close to her and says “Come with me if you want to live”, Sarah gives him the hand and lets him save her life.
