Taltos Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Taltos as a symbol of human interference

The Taltos represent havoc in human life because their role is to interfere with human events and life. For instance, the Taltos caused the unnecessary death of Aaron through a road accident. Anton was a member of Talamasca, a Taltos group that interferes with human life. Similarly, the Taltos caused endless Celtic raids to punish humans. To make matters worse, The Taltos are mixed with human beings, and they are born with people with an odd number of chromosomes like those in the Mayfair family.

Michael as a symbol of betrayal

Michael is married to Dr. Rowan but secretly has a sexual affair with Mona. Mona is pregnant, and it is no longer a secret. Therefore, Michael symbolizes betrayal because he cheats on his faithful wife. When Rowan disappeared mysteriously, Mona seduced Michael, and they had sex severally. Mona became pregnant and later gave birth to a daughter called Morrigan. Despite Rowan acting normally after discovering the affair between her husband and her cousin Mona, she felt betrayed by the man she loved.

Ashlar as a symbol of vanity

Ashlar is depicted as an affluent man who successfully runs a toy company. Ashlar has everything money can buy, and he envies many people. Paradoxically, Ashlar feels empty because his resources cannot help him discover his identity. Ashlar does not know if he is human or Taltos. Therefore, Ashlar is a symbol of vanity because despite having everything he wants, he is not happy due to many unanswered questions in his life. Therefore, money is not everything because one can be wealthy and still be despondent.
