The paradox of Dr. Rowan
Dr. Rowan and Michael are married, and they love each other. Paradoxically, Michael had a secret sexual affair with Mona, Rowan's cousin. Later, Rowan realized that Mona was carrying Michael's pregnancy. Ironically, Rowan is not annoyed by her husband's betrayal. Instead, she asks Mona to declare publicly that she is pregnant and expecting Michael's child. Rowan's reaction after discovering that Michael cheated on her with Mona is paradoxical. Readers expect Rowan to be angry at her husband's betrayal, but she acts normally and even offers to support Mona to deliver successfully.
The irony of wealth
Ashlar is a wealthy businessperson running a toy company that generates millions of dollars monthly. The reader expects Ashlar to be a secure man because he has everything he needs. Ironically, Ashlar is a worried man, and his wealth cannot help him understand his identity. Ashlar does not know if he is a real human or a Taltos. Consequently, being rich does not offer the security and happiness one needs to be in harmony. Ashlar is a disturbed man because he has several unanswered questions about his identity. Unfortunately, his wealth cannot help him answer the disturbing questions in his life.
The absurdity of the Taltos
The Taltos is an alien species originating from the British Island of Isle. The Taltos have a powerful influence on human beings, both large scale, and small scale. Sometimes, the Taltos can interfere with human events, and at times, they cause unnecessary deaths. For instance, the Taltos caused the death of Aaron through an accident. Ironically, the same Taltos are on the front line in spreading Christianity and, simultaneously, causing Celtic raids. One of the principles of Christianity is love and caring for each other, but the Taltos are doing exactly the opposite. For instance, they kill innocent lives, and at times, they cause havoc, endangering the lives of innocent people.
