Steelheart:The Reckoners Book One Metaphors and Similes

Sheep to the Epics

The Reckoners discuss what will happen after they take down Steelheart, what kind of chaos will ensue; they ponder on the possibility that even though Steelheart is the tyrant, he leaves his subjects lead a somewhat normal life, as normal as it is possible considering everything. They consider whether they should give up and choose the lesser evil among the evil, or fight back and give hope to others. Prof makes an indisputable statement that he would rather choose pain and suffering that comes with giving hope that Epics like Steelheart can be defeated, rather than giving up, because if they don't fight, humanity is doomed. Humanity will only become sheep to the Epics.

Memories

David remembers how the world looked before, but the memory is slowly fading, because it is difficult to remember the light and sunshine after only seeing darkness. The memory of that time is fading, to remember it is comparable to trying to remember the traits of his father's face.

Pack of wolves

On their way through the steel catacombs to reach Diamond - a seller of various weapons and gadgets, Abraham Megan and David get ambushed by a group of outcasts who resemble a pack of wolves. David recalls hearing plenty of stories of people who lived in the catacombs - monsters and murderers alike, but these people were different, even more dangerous.
