Spirit Bound Irony

Spirit Bound Irony

Situational irony: Dimitri’s refusal to forgive himself

It is ironic that Dimitri tries to coax Rose into forgiving herself for cheating on Adrian with him, but when Rose asks him to forgive himself for all the people he killed whilst he was Strigoi, he is unable to do so.

Dramatic irony: Tasha defending Rose

Tasha helps Lissa lead a campaign to prove Rose’s innocence in the murder of Queen Tatiana. However, it is Tasha herself who is the killer.

Dramatic irony: Rose feeling sympathy for Christian

When Tasha is revealed as the killer, Rose looks to Christian first because she knows how much this will hurt him and she feels sympathy for him. It is ironic because the reader knows from previous books how much the two dislike each other.
