Spellbound is the story of Calin Farrell and Bryna Torrence. Calin Farrell is a famous photographer who has been plagued by dreams of time long ago, since he was a child. The dreams were so vivid in his childhood that he believed them real and his parents took him to a therapist. The dreams had stopped for a time, but are now returning and Calin believes he is having a mental breakdown. He takes a trip to Ireland in hopes of relieving his stress. The dreams become more vivid as he travels the countryside as if he has a destination in mind. He finds himself at a ruined castle and greeted by a lovely woman who acts as if she knows him.
The woman, Bryna Torrence, is familiar to him from his dreams. She tells him that she is a witch and they are linked by a love story that happened long ago. Bryna’s ancestor, Bryna the Wise, cast a spell linking the two throughout time. Bryna and Calin’s ancestor, Calin of Farrell, were lovers. An evil witch named Alasdair also wanted Bryna. He killed Calin of Farrell and Bryna cast a spell to link her and her lover throughout time. In a thousand years, Bryna and Calin would face Alasdair together in battle. If Calin does not declare his love for Bryna, she will be bound to Alasdair for a thousand years.
Calin refuses to believe her story and Bryna is hurt that he does not remember her from his dreams of when he was a child. She connected with him in her dreams until he grew older and did not have the open acceptance of a child. This felt like a spurn to Bryna and she did not try to reconnect with him until the end of the thousand year pledge became close. It is now a day away and Calin does not remember her. As Bryna and Calin begin to reconnect, Alasdair attempts to pull them apart. He invades Calin’s mind to plant seeds of doubt about Bryna.
To save Calin, Bryna fights with him. He goes on a walk to clear his mind and she sends a white stag into his path knowing that he cannot resist photographing it. The stag leads him into the woods away from the castle. Calin becomes tired and sleeps along the river. Alasdair invades his dreams to further split the couple. Bryna’s mother also comes into Calin’s dream and warns him that her daughter is in danger and he is the only one who can help. She plans to face Alasdair alone and will not survive – does not expect to survive.
Calin rushes to the castle coming upon a black stallion, the stallion from his childhood dreams; he also has a sword making him the warrior from his dreams. Bryna fights the best she can with her waning powers against the powerful Alasdair. Calin rushes to her rescue declaring his love for her and vanquishing Alasdair.
Bryna offers him anything within her power as a gift for saving her. Calin joking questions if she can give wealth and prestige. If that is what he wants, she can grant them. He says that he wants only her as his bride and she is happy to grant his wish.
