How does Charles's encounter with the Dust Witch in the library and his reaction to death reflect his attitude towards mortality and aging in the book?
We can see that Charles seems to have reconciled with death during his encounter with the Dust Witch in the library. However, this transformation might not be as thorough as it initially appeared: while facing the brink of death, close to the Dust Witch's grasp, Charles managed to laugh in the face of death.
However, within the Maze, it becomes evident that he hasn't entirely come to terms with all the implications of death, particularly his own aging, which will inevitably progress as time goes on.
