According to Rodrigues, why has Christianity been so successful in Japan? Do you think that he's right about this? Why or why not? What might this say about Rodrigues and/or the narrative's perspective on the role of religion in human life?

Rodrigues argues that the reason that Christianity has taken root so strongly in Japan is that it offers hope to Japan's people. Additionally, this no doubt also had something to do with the behavior of the men bringing Christianity to Japan: as he says, where the peasants met missionaries, it was as if they were meeting "men who treated them like human beings" for the first time.
