Shift Irony

Verbal irony

There is a verbal irony when Senator Thurman and Donald strike a deal about the construction of the silos. Senator Thurman knows the exact purpose of the silos, which is to manipulate the human race, but he lies to Donald that the silos will be used in storing used nuclear fuel. Donald quickly accepts to undertake the project because he thinks its purpose is to conserve the environment.

Situational irony

After Ann initiates a breakup with Donald, readers expect her to move on with her life and leave Donald alone. Ironically, Anna realizes that no man loves her and decides to return to Donald and beg him for marriage. Ironically, Donald has moved on and married Helen, who has given him a handsome boy. Anna decides to use manipulative tactics to bring Donald closer to her.

The irony of Troy

Troy has worked in the silos for several centuries, but he has never thought of holding the most powerful position of monitoring all the silos. Ironically, when the proprietors of the silos are faced with a complication in silo twelve, they entrust Troy to solve the mystery and take charge of all other silos. After Troy realizes he knows nothing about the complication in silo twelve, he orders for its extermination plus all its occupants. The proprietors believe Troy made his decision based on research, but that is untrue.
