The Irony of Getting What You Want

Tony takes Lelia back to his apartment in order to sleep with her. After he does so, he learns that it was her first time. All he wanted was to sleep with her, the irony is that by getting what he wanted he's taken something that should be given and it creates a mess of confusion between the two.

The Irony of Being an Artist

Hugh has been a professional singer for over 10 years. He once considered himself an artist. The irony is that no one is interested in hearing him sing his 'art' as they are more captivated by exotic dancers that don't have talent, but are beautiful to look at.

The Irony of Getting Out

David recommends that Ben, Tom and Dennis get out in the city and do something. To go explore the city and all it has to offer. At this point the boys are solely interested with women and partying. The irony is that once they decide to go out to The Met Museum their true natures comes through, and we see how moved Ben is by a particular statue as Tom screams about ridiculous art is and the people who teach about it, all while Dennis simply stands by.

The Irony of Lust

Tony is introduced to the audience while talking to a pretty young blonde-haired woman. They are at an 'intellectual party' and he's asking her if she's a writer. She tells him she's an exotic dancer and his face sours. The irony is that even though we see him lose interest in her he continues to pursue her because he is physically attracted to her. He's so captivated by his lust for her that he doesn't recognize that not only is she with another man, but she's pregnant with that man's child.

The Irony of Kidding Around

Ben, Tom, and Dennis go into a restaurant and begin to kid around with a couple of girls in a booth. They try to be funny in hopes of taking them home. The irony is that their kidding around gets them beaten to a pulp when the guys who are already with the girls show up and fight them.
