Written by Patrick Radden Keefe, Say Nothing (published in 2019) tells the story of Jean McConville a mother of ten that gets abducted by a member of the Irish Republican Army (I.R.A) in front of her ten children. The whole city knew it was the I.R.A., but people were too afraid to speak up. Then, 31 years later, a set of bones was discovered on a beach. The kids identified the bones as their mom they knew this because she always had a blue safety pin on her. Say Nothing is a book about the consequences of violence, rebellion, conflict, war, fear, and growing up in a country at war despite dealing with that violence and fear.
When it was released, Say Nothing received great reviews. Kirkus Reviews said "A harrowing story of politically motivated crime that could not have been better told." Reviewer David A. Graham of the Atlantic likewise loved the book, saying that the book "succeeds because it presents an extensive ledger of evidence against Adams, without reducing him to a fat caricature."
