Travis Coates
Travis Coates is a young man who first appeared in Old Yeller. In this book, Travis is a year older and is captured by a tribe along with his younger brother. During his capture, Travis faces violence and the realization that he may not make it home.
Arliss Coates
Arliss is the younger brother of Travis. He is depicted as being easily distracted and immature compared to his older brother. He suffers considerably during the abduction, but fortunately they are eventually saved with the help of Savage Sam.
