Denver Moore
Denver Moore belongs to a poor family of a Black sharecropper. He experiences poverty and modern-day slavery, working on a plantation. He escapes from his home to live in Texas to find a better life but ends up going to prison.
Denver meets Ron and Deborah at a local union gospel mission in Texas. He starts spending his time with them. Initially, Denver has no interest in befriending with Ron. Finally, they become close friends. Denver helps Ron to regain his faith in God, after Deborah’s death. Denver’s strong faith in God encourages him to help homeless people like him. Eventually, he becomes a motivational speaker.
Ron Hall
Ron Hall belongs to a middle-class Christian family. He becomes wealthy, after getting success in business, Ron gradually indulges in work and materialistic things. Deborah, his wife, is more interested in charity work, and slowly they feel distant from each other. When she gets to know about Ron’s affair, yet she forgives him. Afterward, Ron joins Deborah in her charity work.
Deborah Hall
Deborah Hall is the wife of Ron Hall. She is a devoted Christian and compassionate woman. After knowing about her husband's affair, she forgives her husband’s infidelity and asks him to help her at a shelter home, where she meets Denver and insists on her husband befriend him. As time goes by, she develops a strong belief in God. Soon after, Deborah finds out that she has cancer. Eventually, she dies.
